PREHISTORIC PAINTING

Create your natural ocher paint

The cave paintings of the Chauvet Cave were made between –32,000 and -21,000 years ago. Although the scientific community has not yet agreed on the purpose of these drawings, it seems obvious that these are not mere decorations.

So were they used as magic incantations for hunting, was it the role of the shaman, or did our ancestors seek to leave a trace and communicate with future generations?

For 30 minutes, show your talents by using pigments and other natural elements.

Make your own prehistoric painting on a wooden board. Take away your creation.

Tip: Remember to come early to fully enjoy your day between visiting the Caves and Prehistoric Workshops

Questions about animations
  • Are the workshops canceled in case of rain ?
    • No, because all activities can be done under cover, with the exception of hunting with a spear workshop, but it is rare that the rain falls continuously... and nothing stops the valiant hunters!

  • What is the age recommended for carrying out the workshops ?
    • We have indicated the recommended age for each activity, but obviously everything depends on the agility and precocity of each child.

  • I purchase my tickets on the internet. Should I print them or can I present my reservation on my phone ?

    • To avoid any problem, it is preferable to have proof of purchase on your side with your tickets downloaded beforehand on your smartphone. 3 or 4G coverage on the site is not always easy. However if you forget, do not worry: we have the trace of your reservation at the reception of the site!

    • Remember to come to the site 15 minutes before the start of the reserved visit or activities.
